Does focusing on temporal values or putting priority on things that don’t last put a roadblock in your marriage? If you’ve watched our last few videos you know the answer is a resounding YES. This sin most definitely has the potential to destroy your marriage.
In Matthew 6: 24 Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”
If you are too focused on succeeding, winning approval, or making money you are not focused on your relationship with your spouse and that can affect your spouse in harmful ways. So what is the solution? Watch our short video (2:45min) on this topic at our blog for our ideas.
As always, we can only explain the problem. You will need to sit before God and take a long, honest look in order to solve it. We help you do that in our book, The Marriage Dance: Moving Together As One, and companion workbook, The Marriage Dance Workbook: Practice the Steps. It is a worthwhile process. We would even say that focusing on your spouse rather than on things that won’t last will make your marriage dance.
