In Featured, The Marriage Dance Book, Thoughts from Roxann, Time to Make Your Marriage Dance

A couple in their early seventies sat next to us in church last Sunday. They nestled close to each other and he draped his arm across her lap and held her hand. Their expressions communicated that they were comfortable and satisfied in their relationship.

When I was in elementary school, my friend Chucky always spoke happily about his family. I remember studying them carefully from a distance. I’m sure they never knew I was watching. They seemed to enjoy each other. They, too, had looked comfortable and satisfied.

I made the decision way back then that I wanted a marriage like that one day. I still want it today. And, I want a child—or college student—or young couple to see my marriage and want to emulate it. I want them to see your marriage and want to emulate it, too. Can I get an “Amen”?

For a deeper dive into creating a marriage worth emulating, you may find our book, The Marriage Dance: Moving Together As One, to be helpful. Our companion workbook, The Marriage Dance: Practice The Steps, is also available to explore the topic further.
